Study the effects of diet on the body, the role of nutrition in growth and development, and the impact of food choices on the health of the population.
This program integrates studies in biochemistry and physiology with courses in food science, human nutrition, and social, cultural and behavioural issues in food and nutrition. Advanced courses include public health and community nutrition, food laws and regulations, and clinical and sports nutrition. You specialise in exercise science, health promotion or nutrition research. Additional graduate study enables professional specialisation in areas such as dietetics, food science and technology, health promotion, public health, or exercise and sports science.

Program requirements
In order to graduate you must complete:
- Complete no more than 10 introductory (100 level) courses, including the core courses.
- Complete a minimum of 14 advanced (200 and 300 level) courses.
Program notes
- Completing this program within the specified (full-time) duration is based on studying 48 unit points per semester (normally 4 courses).
- Courses within this program are assessed using a variety of assessment methods including essays, seminar presentations, reports, in-class tests and examinations. Not all courses will necessarily include all methods.
- As part of your USC program, you may apply to participate in the Global Opportunities (GO) Program to undertake courses with an overseas higher education provider. It is advisable to contact your Program Advisor to discuss timing and course issues.
- Only a full-time study option is available to international students on a Student Visa.

^ Students who have not successfully completed the prerequisite courses of LFS100 or LFS10 (or equivalent) must seek permission from the Course Coordinator to enrol in this course. Students who have not met the prerequisite requirements, or who need to refresh their knowledge of biology and chemistry are advised to enrol in ENB126 , which is conducted prior to the commencement of Semester 2.
Program transfer
Students wishing to undertake an internal transfer into the Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (not available to international students on a Student Visa) should complete the following electives. Students wishing to transfer into Dietetics must submit an application, and approval is at the discretion of the program/discipline leader and is subject to availability.
