This program is suitable if you are seeking a non-school teaching career. You may be a registered teacher who wants to upgrade your qualifications, or you want to work as a trainer within private industry, vocational education, or education consultancy. The program does not accredit graduates for teacher registration in Australian states.
To study to become a registered teacher, refer to the Bachelor of Primary Education or Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, or combined degrees of Bachelor of Education with a Bachelor of Arts, Business or Science.
To be considered for admission, applicants must satisfy one of the following entry requirements:
- 1 year full-time (or equivalent) of a degree (or equivalent) with a minimum grade point average of 4 (on a 7-point scale)
- 1 year full-time (or equivalent) of a degree (or equivalent) (on a 7-point scale) plus 2 years full-time (or equivalent) relevant work experience
- AQF Diploma (or equivalent) plus 1 year full-time (or equivalent) relevant work experience
- incomplete VET and higher education studies (ie VET Certificate III through to postgraduate qualifications) that collectively equates to 2 years full-time (or equivalent) study with a minimum grade point average of 4 (on a 7-point scale) plus 3 years full-time (or equivalent) relevant work experience
- a trade certificate (or equivalent) plus 5 years full-time (or equivalent) relevant work experience
- relevant study or informal training of a minimum of 2 years full-time (or equivalent)
Applicants may also be required to attend an interview.

Program requirements
In order to graduate you must:
- Complete 24 courses which includes Core courses (2), 1 Education Major (8), required courses (6), plus a major (8) in another discipline from any faculty or 2 minors (4) in another discipline from any faculty.
Program notes
- Graduates of this program will not be eligible for teacher registration in Queensland or any other state in Australia.
- Completing this program within the specified (full-time) duration is based on studying 48 unit points per semester (normally 4 courses).
- Courses within this program are assessed using a variety of assessment methods including essays, seminar presentations, reports, in-class tests and examinations. Not all courses will necessarily include all methods.
- As part of your USC program, you may apply to participate in the Global Opportunities (GO) Program to undertake courses with an overseas higher education provider. It is advisable to contact your Program Advisor to discuss timing and course issues.
- Only a full-time study option is available to international students on a Student Visa.
