At UniSC students get to complete work integrated learning as a part of almost every degree we offer.
Through hands-on opportunities to soar
Our engineering students are soaring into the future of aviation, with the opportunity to make history as part of the first ever student-built electric aircraft called “eVTOL”, which aims to take to the skies from 2024.
Students will use cutting-edge software and systems to design, manufacture, assemble and ultimately flight-test the eVTOL – which stands for electric vertical take-off and landing. The opportunities for this kind of aircraft are endless, from creating easier ways for personal travel, to intelligence and surveillance, reconnaissance, and freight transport.
The eVTOL project not only creates a focal point for STEAM talent in our region, but this kind of project-based learning gives students experience in a simulated “company”, so they’re as prepared as possible to step into their chosen industry on graduating.
Through pathways into dream jobs
UniSC is the education partner of The Dolphins, the newest NRL team, which means our students who are passionate about sports, health, business, events, marketing and more, have opportunities for dream work placements.
Like Jayden Mitchell, Bachelor of Sports Studies student, who jumped at the chance to secure a work placement at the club and suddenly found himself in the thick of the sports business world. Now, after impressing the club during his work placement, Jayden scored his dream role, employed by The Dolphins fulltime in their sales department.
Through world heritage listed field trips
At UniSC students get to complete work integrated learning (WIL) as a part of almost every degree we offer - and we are so lucky to have a research and learning centre on the world heritage listed K’gari. Many of our students will experience the wonders of K’gari through field trips to the world’s largest sand island.
Students get to embark on a journey of discovery in one of Australia's most breathtaking research and teaching centres, while they learn about the diverse ecosystems, rich biodiversity, and cultural significance of K'gari.
Through flexible study, so you can learn while you live and live while you learn.
Study modes
We know many of our students have responsibilities they need to juggle, so our flexible learning options are designed to ensure uni can fit in with work and life. Here are some of the options that could make uni work for you. As each study area is unique, check your course information to see what flexible study options are available or contact us to find out more.
Part-time study
This can be a great option if you have other commitments that take up much of your time, as you can still make progress towards a degree (usually 1-2 courses per semester) at a pace that suits your needs.
Online study
An online degree can be a great option for students who need flexibility. You’ll complete self-directed online learning materials (podcasts, interviews, simulations, screencasts, recorded discussions and quizzes) at your own pace, at whatever time suits you best. You will still have full access to the facilities and services offered across all UniSC campuses.
Blended learning
Blended learning means students learn through a combination of in-person seminars and face-to-face tutorials, workshops or lab classes (usually on campus) supported by online learning materials which are completed at your own pace, at a time that suits you best.
