Learn to master the art of storytelling and work towards your dream career as an author, editor, freelancer, or communications strategist. Your studies will equip you with the skills to succeed in a broad range of publishing contexts. Experiment with different genres of writing, including novels, short stories, poetry and screenwriting, with all creative outcomes workshopped by supportive peers and enthusiastic staff.

The English major explores the forms and depths of stories that have shaped societies globally. You will explore world-changing narratives, including Australian literature, classics, world literature, non-fiction, Indigenous writing, and social media and learn about editing and publishing, supported by skilled and passionate staff.

You will develop reading, analytical, communication and creative writing skills to equip you with the innovation and empathy required to succeed in the workplace now and into the future.
