If you are a business graduate with an undergraduate degree in an area other than accounting, the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Accounting offers a pathway into the accounting profession and provides knowledge and skills to enhance your career prospects.

The Graduate Certificate consists of four courses and articulates into the 8-course Graduate Diploma. Courses in the Graduate Certificate cover accounting, business finance and business law. In the Graduate Diploma, you study accounting, auditing and accounting issues, business finance, and business and taxation law.

If you enrol in the Graduate Diploma, you may choose to exit after completing the first four courses with the Graduate Certificate and achieve a recognised qualification. Subject to certain time conditions, you can return to upgrade your qualification later.

Admission requirements

It is expected that students entering the Graduate Certificate in Accounting will be business degree graduates from non-accounting disciplines and have successfully completed the required prerequisite courses, or their equivalents, in their undergraduate program.

However, other qualifications and experience may be considered. In such cases, referee reports may be requested. Admission will be determined on an individual basis by the Head of School within the School of Business.

Professional recognition

Professional accounting bodies—such as CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia—generally accept four specific business undergraduate courses plus the eight courses of the Graduate Diploma for associate membership.
