Program overview

The Graduate Diploma in Tourism Management is designed for:

  • graduates in areas other than tourism who want to upgrade their educational qualifications in tourism management
  • practitioners, owners and operators currently working in the tourism industry without formal qualifications who want to obtain an award and improve their understanding of various aspects of tourism enterprise

The Graduate Diploma consists of eight courses and builds on the Graduate Certificate in Tourism Management. If you enrol in the Graduate Diploma you may exit after successfully completing the first four courses with a Graduate Certificate, which allows you to achieve a recognised qualification and, subject to certain time conditions, return to upgrade your qualification later.

Courses in the Graduate Diploma program cover management, ecotourism, sustainable tourism, tourist behaviour and a tourism practicum. In addition, you are able to choose two courses in your area of interest such as marketing, accounting, international business and tourism development.

Admission requirements

Students entering the Graduate Diploma in Tourism Management program will be required to have an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than tourism.

Non-graduates who have extensive professional tourism industry or management experience, and who can demonstrate their capacity to successfully complete the program may be considered for entry on an individual basis by the Dean.

The program is currently offered to Australian and New Zealand citizens, and Australian permanent residents.
