Overview

The University of the Sunshine Coast is committed to the prevention of illness or injury due to work carried out by any student, member of staff or any other person on University premises or any workplace over which the University has jurisdiction.

Policy

1. Definitions

Obligation has the meaning given by the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 and its amendments.

University premises includes buildings, grounds and vehicles which are under the control and management of the University and which are used for, or in connection with, the purposes of the University.

Workplace Health and Safety has the meaning given by the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 and its amendments.

2. Scope

All persons who enter University premises are bound by this commitment.

3. Responsibility

The University requires workplace health and safety to be an integral part of every University of the Sunshine Coast operation. The safety of students, staff, the public, contractors and all other employees is the responsibility of everyone on campus and is to be demonstrated at all times.

Everyone on campus of the University of the Sunshine Coast has an obligation to ensure all work under their care or control is carried out in a safe manner.

The University neither expects nor requires its students, employees, suppliers or contractors to attempt anything that would be likely to cause them harm.
