Program overview

The Master of Midwifery program will provide the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skill and attitudes necessary for entry to midwifery practice. Graduates will demonstrate the ANMC National Competency Standards for the Midwife and will be eligible to apply for endorsement as a midwife with the Queensland Nursing Council.

The program is offered in blended mode with integration of extensive clinical experience. To maximise learning opportunities, simulation learning and case based learning will be utilised. Clinical experience will be provided in maternity care settings across the Sunshine Coast and Gympie.

The program has been developed collaboratively with maternity health services on the Sunshine Coast and Gympie. These health services include: Nambour Hospital, Gympie Hospital, Nambour Selangor Hospital, The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital. The program will be unique in that students will have access to clinical learning experiences in both public and private maternity settings.

Post-endorsement students will have completed a midwifery qualification and be endorsed to practice midwifery. An enrolment pattern will be determined based on previous education and experience and advanced standing will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
