Program overview 

This program will provide graduates with in-depth knowledge of Early Learning priorities in reading, writing, mathematics and developmental learning. Currently there are very few teachers trained in the middle and early phases of learning, (Years 1-3) who are registered to teach in Queensland. This program offers to the profession, graduate teachers who will take up increasing opportunities in schools as Middle Years teachers with expertise in priority early learning areas. They will be strong in the profession as middle years teachers who will also have the flexibility of teaching from Year 1 through to Year 9.

Students will be asked to complete four courses. Each course will see the confluence of educational research, university teaching and workplace learning. Courses will be offered in face-to-face intensive mode enhanced by a series of online learning modules. Assessment and teaching will be built around the specific learning outcomes, using a flexible approach to cater for the diversity of student needs. Winter and Summer Schools and Intensive Teaching Weekends may be adopted to respond to client needs.

Admission requirements

Students will need to hold a successful undergraduate degree in education, graduate diploma in education, or equivalent (Nursing, Social Work, Justice Studies) to gain entry into this postgraduate qualification. Students from a non-English speaking background will be required to attain an IELTS level of 7 in each category of the test. Equivalent scores from other forms of English language testing will also be considered.

International students need to refer to the English language requirements.
