Program overview

The Bachelor of Nursing degree is jointly offered by Central Queensland University with the University of the Sunshine Coast. Half of the program * is taught by the University of the Sunshine Coast, and the other half is taught by Central Queensland University.

Students complete all of their education on the Sunshine Coast, whether it be on campus, in their own homes, or doing practical work in clinical placements. These placements are undertaken as part of the program with hospitals and health facilities in the Sunshine Coast region, including Gympie.

There are also opportunities for interstate and international placements. Students who attain an above average academic standing are eligible to enter the Bachelor of Science (Honours) program at University of the Sunshine Coast. Graduates of TAFE's enrolled nursing course are eligible for the equivalent of up to one year's advanced standing in the nursing degree.

Career opportunities

Nurses may choose employment in health-care settings ranging from community settings, hospitals, Indigenous health environments, industrial sites, remote and rural area health clinics and the armed forces.
