Program Overview

A combined education program opens the door to a wide range of study and career possibilities.

The education component of the combined degree will provide opportunities to develop professional knowledge and practice through courses on campus and at a variety of school and other educational sites. The degree combined with education will allow students to develop a background in chosen disciplines to support curriculum and co-curriculum studies related to teaching in secondary schools. Students will normally undertake studies in two teaching areas.

Professional Membership

Graduates are eligible to be registered with the Queensland Board of Teacher Registration. Registration is a requirement to teach in Queensland schools. A range of other general and discipline-specific memberships is also available to graduates of these programs.

Course Substitution: The GO (Global Opportunities) Program

As part of their USC program, students may apply to participate in the GO Program to undertake courses with an overseas higher education provider

Program Requirements and Notes

  1. Required introductory courses may count towards some majors and minors.
  2. No courses may normally be counted towards more than one major or minor within each Faculty.
  3. An introductory level course has a number less than 200 in its course code. An advanced level course has a number greater than 200 and less than 400 in its course code.
  4. Courses may be selected which contribute to any major or minor offered in the University providing they comply with the requirements of this degree program. These majors and minors will be recorded on your academic record transcript.
  5. Courses credited to your academic record through cross-institutional studies or as advanced standing may also count towards majors and minors where those courses are equivalent to courses listed in the relevant major or minor.
  6. Students choosing a minor from the Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Arts program can only choose five of the six required introductory courses.
