Program Overview

Students major in financial planning in addition to gaining specific foundation knowledge in business.

Studies include two core courses in conjunction with business foundation courses such as economics, management, marketing, research methods, accounting and business law and ethics. A broad knowledge of financial planning is obtained through studies in the financial planning process, investment management, finance, superannuation taxation, insurance, risk management and estate planning.

Professional Membership
Graduates will meet the competency and skill requirements of the Australian Securities and Investment Commission for Financial Advisors. The program will be a pathway to the Financial Planning Association's Certified Financial Planner designation.

Career Opportunities

Career opportunities include financial planner, finance advisor and financial analyst.

Students are required to complete 24 courses in 3 years of full-time study or 6 years of part-time study.

Program Requirements and Notes

  1. No more than 10 introductory level courses are to be completed, including Core Courses, in the Bachelor of Business.
  2. The Financial Planning major consists of the eight second and third level courses listed in the program structure. The Financial Planning minor consists of any four courses from the major, providing that prerequisites are met.
