Bachelor of Arts (Popular Culture)

  • This enrolment pattern is designed to comply with program requirements.
  • Variations are possible but should only be considered in consultation with the Program Adviser.
  • Students with advanced standing from prior tertiary study should consult the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Program Adviser for recommended enrolment.

AUS100 History of Australian Popular Culture: The Twentieth Century and Beyond
COR109 Communication and Thought *
COR110 Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship *
INT100 International Politics: An Australian Perspective
SCS130 Introduction to Indigenous Australia

Semester 1, 2006

Choose three of the following:
AUS120 The TeXt Files: An Introduction to Cultural Studies
CMN110 Australian Media Industries: Introduction to Communication Studies
COR109 Communication and Thought *
COR110 Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship *
SCS100 Introduction to the Social Sciences: Knowledge, Power and Society
Plus one of the following:
AUS212 The Box: History of Australian Television Culture
AUS220 Research Project in Australian Studies
AUS265 Walking Sites: Cultural Heritage Tours
Or Language Course A (for a language minor)
Or an elective course

* NOTE: All students should complete both COR109 Communication and Thought and COR110 Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship within the first two semesters of study.

Notes
  1. Electives may be any course from any faculty (maximum of 4).
  2. Students must complete at least 8 advanced courses in Australian and Cultural Studies.
  3. Students may complete no more than 10 introductory level courses.
  4. Prerequisites may apply for some advanced courses.
  5. The chosen minor may include either Marketing or Tourism from the Business faculty. Students interested in this option should contact the Program Adviser.
