Expand your skills and become a VET-accredited trainer.

This program creates leaders in VET practice who can design and deliver quality vocational education and training to retain learners, build workplace learning success, and establish pathways to further education, training and employment.

Changing work roles of VET practitioners requires shifting mindsets, new models and workforce renewal. Vocational education and training is immersed in an evolving environment in which system-wide radical reforms aim to produce a more industry-focused and responsive sector. This challenges the nature of vocational learning and the way in which it is delivered to a market with new and changing expectations.

Many teachers now facilitate learning in a range of blended delivery modes—“they are learning managers requiring effective communication skills, relevant and up to date content and the knowledge and skills to deliver and assess in a wide range of contexts” (The Vocational Education and Training Workforce – new roles and ways of working 2004:2).

Build your capacity to deliver a learner-centred, industry-focused product that is responsive to the challenges of change at an individual, organisational and systemic level. You complete four courses to develop the learning frameworks, build learning engagement, grow connectedness with product and process development, and recognise and facilitate the achievement of current industry competencies.

Courses are delivered using face-to-face interaction, on-line learning engagement, and support and peer learning groups which are focused on an enquiry-based learning experience built on industry exposure and critical reflections on practice. This learning approach uses real and relevant assessment strategies that are authentic to the VET context and provides a rich learning experience that allows you to develop your skills, from observation and critical analysis to product design, delivery and review.

Admission requirements

To teach in schools, applicants will need to be a registered teacher, and hold a degree in education, or a graduate diploma in education.

For those working in non-school contexts, in areas such as nursing, social work or business and office practices, for example, applicants require possession of a degree to gain entry into the postgraduate qualification, and they may require workplace experience of up to five years. These applicants need to be aware that the award of a Certificate is not a qualification for teacher registration.

Applicants from a non-English speaking background will be required to attain an IELTS level of 6.5 in each category of the test. Equivalent scores from other forms of English language testing may also be considered.
