  • Flexible course offerings help you balance your study and work commitments

Upgrade your skills and gain professional accounting qualifications.

If you are a business graduate with an undergraduate degree in an area other than accounting, the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Accounting offers a pathway into the accounting profession and provides knowledge and skills to enhance your career prospects.

The Graduate Certificate consists of four courses and articulates into the eight-course Graduate Diploma. Courses in the Graduate Certificate cover accounting, business finance and business law. In the Graduate Diploma, you study accounting, auditing and accounting issues, business finance, and business and taxation law.

If you enrol in the Graduate Diploma, you may choose to exit after completing the first four courses with the Graduate Certificate and achieve a recognised qualification. Subject to certain time conditions, you can return to upgrade your qualification later.

Professional recognition

Professional accounting bodies—such as CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia—generally accept four specific business undergraduate courses plus the eight courses of the Graduate Diploma for associate membership.

Admission requirements

It is expected that students entering the Graduate Diploma in Accounting will be business degree graduates in non-accounting disciplines and will have successfully completed the required prerequisite courses, or their equivalents, in their undergraduate program.

However, other qualifications and experience may be considered. In such cases, referee reports may be requested. Admission will be determined on an individual basis by the Dean of Business.

The program is currently offered to Australian and New Zealand citizens, and Australian permanent residents.

Students will also be required to meet English language requirements.
