Program overview

The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector offers diverse career paths and excellent salary prospects. Australia’s strong ICT industry has experienced long-term employment growth, and many multinational corporations have chosen to base significant ICT operations in Australia.

ICT knowledge and skills play an essential role in almost all organisations. As an ICT professional you will be well-placed to drive innovation and outcomes across a range of industries. New career areas in ICT are developing and evolving every day.

USC’s curriculum assumes no prior knowledge in ICT. The course structure covers popular ICT areas such as security, programming and databases, while allowing you to explore a broad range of ICT specialisations.

You will learn every phase of developing and architecting a software system, from initial planning and design through to actual programming, team management and associated business issues. The creation, management and deployment of databases are also covered, along with networking, telecommunications and integration of diverse systems.

The program has a practical focus, with many of the learning tasks comprising activities such as constructing networks, building databases and creating software packages. Small class sizes allow high levels of staff-student interaction.

You will also undertake industries studies courses, such as structured internships with ICT companies; or courses from other education providers, as approved by USC.

You can apply to undertake first-year courses in this program at the USC Noosa Centre. Please note that the option to study at Noosa is not available to international students.

Professional recognition

Students and graduates can apply for membership of the Australian Computer Society.
