Program overview
This four-year professional program will prepare you for an exciting career as an engineer. Subject to Engineers Australia accreditation, graduates of the program will be eligible to apply for membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia. You will be well-placed to take-up increasing opportunities for qualified engineers within Australia, and around the world.
Courses in the program are designed to help you develop excellent problem-solving skills within a team-based environment. You will explore practical, appropriate solutions to issues involving management of construction projects (such as design, structural integrity, material selection, and environmental impacts). These graduate characteristics will enable you to apply for a wide variety of positions, both within and outside the engineering profession.
Throughout your studies you will be presented with practical, real-world applications of the course material. Guest lecturers from industry will ensure you have a high level of exposure to current engineering professional practice, and you will be encouraged to undertake suitable vacation work experience to further support your university studies.
External delivery
Please note that some of the required courses in this program will initially be undertaken at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ). Students may be required to travel to the USQ Toowoomba campus to attend block intensive practical classes. Professional recognition
Subject to Engineers Australia accreditation, graduates will be able to apply for membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia. To qualify for membership, you will be required to complete 12 weeks of work experience in the engineering industry, and submit an Engineering Work Experience Report, prior to the completion of your Bachelor of Engineering (Construction Management) degree.
Please note that Engineers Australia’s standard accreditation process includes consultation with graduates from the program, and their employers. Therefore, USC aims to achieve full accreditation of the Bachelor of Engineering (Construction Management) program during 2012, when the first cohort of graduates has entered the workforce.
Graduates may also join the Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers Australia (APESMA), or other relevant professional bodies.

# This course will initially be taken via external delivery offered by the University of Southern Queensland. Enrolment in these courses may involve travel and attendance at the Toowoomba campus for block intensive practical classes. Students in the first year of their program will not be required to travel to the Toowoomba campus. In later years of the program, students may be required to travel to Toowoomba twice each year, for a maximum of five days in early February and five days during mid-semester break in September. Students are expected to cover the travel and accommodation costs associated with these intensives themselves.
