Program Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Social Science (Community Services Management) is designed to provide knowledge and skills in human resource management and social and community studies equivalent to that available within the higher levels of a Bachelor degree. The program combines study in human resource management, leadership, team building and workplace issues with advanced courses in community work, counselling, gender studies and cultural diversity.

This program develops skills and conceptual understanding in human resources and community services management, while providing an opportunity to gain a qualification that has relevance, currency and credibility. Graduates are well placed for work in:

  • private and public sectors
  • social welfare, social policy development
  • community development
  • social research
  • human resource management
  • international development

This Graduate Diploma does not articulate into a Masters program.

Admission Requirements

Students entering the Graduate Diploma in Social Science (Community Services Management) are required to have an undergraduate degree or its equivalent from a recognised higher education institution. The degree must be in an area different from human resource management.

The program is currently offered to Australian and New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents, and international students.

Program Requirements

Students are required to successfully complete 8 courses as specified in the Graduate Diploma in Social Science (Community Services Management) program structure. Refer to the Academic Rules for further information. If a student has successfully completed an undergraduate course that is the equivalent of a course offered in this program, another course will be substituted in the program.
