Entry Requirements
A Bachelor's degree from a recognised higher education institution and a minimum of three years' work experience are the requirements for entering the Master of Business Administration program.
Applications are also invited from candidates who do not have a degree but who have work experience of, or approaching managerial level for, six years or more. These applications will receive special consideration from the Dean of Business, who has the discretion to waive the educational requirement if it is considered the candidate is likely to be successful at postgraduate study and would benefit from the program.
Applicants whose first language is other than English must demonstrate an appropriate level of English proficiency by providing evidence of one of the required qualifications.
Advanced Standing
Students with an Undergraduate Degree
No advanced standing will be granted to students with an undergraduate qualification, however, substitution will be permitted in certain circumstances.
Students who have completed two or more courses on a single topic can substitute that same MBA course for another. For example, if a student has completed a major in Accounting, they can replace Accounting for Managers with a course from the Master of Financial Planning or similar.
Students with Postgraduate Qualifications
Students who have completed postgraduate subjects elsewhere may apply for one course of advanced standing up to a maximum of 50% for the Master of Business Administration, Graduate Certificate in Business Administration and the Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. The content of the courses would need to overlap the University of the Sunshine Coast course content by least 70%.
Only students who have completed a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration at another recognised higher education institution will be eligible for eight courses of advanced standing.
