We recently had a conversation with Lucas to get an update on his involvement in volleyball and his role with Sunshine Coast Lightning.

Lucas mentioned 'in terms of Volleyball, I've recently ruptured my ACL so I'm currently in a very 'rehab' orientated stage in terms of sport.'

'Through uni placements, I've had the opportunity to intern for Sunshine Coast Lightning' he said

'Sport previously for me was always just about playing'

'However, working in a high-performance environment as a part of a performance team has opened my eyes to the 'why' we do certain things in sports'

To further the new passion of Lucas' he is completing a research project as a part of his honours with Sunshine Coast Lightning.

'The support I've received from the club and university (through the encouragement scholarship even if it was small) has been instrumental for me through this difficult period of my life'

'Encouraging me to continue pursuing my goals and hopefully return to sport sooner rather than later!'

We are excited to continue following Lucas's journey in his athletic pursuits, academic endeavours, and professional career.
