From Headstart to a career in journalism
Nineteen-year-old Liam Bland says Headstart gave him a great start to his USC studies.
"I studied USC’s Communication and Thought subject at the Fraser Coast campus while I was in Year 12, and it taught me new academic skills and gave me access to extra study resources, which definitely improved the quality of my schoolwork.
"During the first few weeks of my Journalism degree, I felt much more confident. Knowing how to write and reference tertiary-level assessments was a great advantage.
"Being able to put the skills I have learned into action in the real world has been so beneficial and helped me grow as a journalist.
"I have a passion for sports broadcasting, and my interests in current affairs have grown significantly. I’ve written several sports articles for the Sunshine Coast Daily and my tutors have been supportive in helping me get work published."
