After having worked in jobs ranging from hospitality to accounting, USC graduate T’Neill Eyre of Scarborough has finally found her true passion in nursing.

T’Neill, 26, recently graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing Science with a grade point average of 6.08 out of a possible 7 and has applied for graduate position as a Registered Nurse .

“This is work that really helps people,” she said. “There is joy in seeing the work you do helping others have the best possible outcomes. I’m happy to go to work every day.”

T’Neill had been nursing part-time while studying a Bachelor of Education at USC but then changed degrees because she wanted to boost her skills beyond her Diploma of Enrolled Nursing.

“While I didn’t complete the Education degree, I really enjoyed the experience of going to university,” she said.

“This contributed to my decision to choose USC for my Bachelor of Nursing Science.”

T’Neill (nee Walrond), who graduated from Mueller College, Rothwell, in 2012, said USC was supportive of students and its staff were interested in helping.

“The teachers were not only genuinely nice, treating us like adult learners, but they also had an abundance of lived experience,” she said.

“It was nice to relate the textbook learning to real-life experiences.”

T’Neill said her current role as a peri-operative nurse at The Prince Charles Hospital required good time management, clear communication with the medical team and patients, and initiative.

She said the medical knowledge, communication skills and critical thinking skills taught at USC were aspects of her degree that she was now using the most in her work.
