USC has home games for first rounds of UBL

USC will begin its national University Basketball League (UBL) campaign this week with home games against La Trobe University on Tuesday 13 April and the University of Sydney on Wednesday 14 April.

The games will be played in the USC Stadium at 2pm for the women’s clashes and 4pm for the men’s on both days.

The games will be livestreamed online at www.facebook.com/uscsport

USC Sport spokesman Jay McCracken said the student basketball athletes were eager to start the inaugural six-round season that was postponed from 2020 due to COVID-19.

He said USC had appointed well-known professional coaches Vern Robateau (women’s) and Nathan Arousi (men’s) for the competition and would fly the flag for the Sunshine state as the only Queensland team involved.

Over the weeks ahead, USC will also play teams from The University of Melbourne, The University of Western Australia (Perth), University of Technology Sydney and Victoria University (Melbourne).

Most of USC’s games this season will be played at USC Stadium, which is also the home venue for USC Rip City’s men’s and women’s teams in the NBL1 North league and the Queensland State League respectively.
