USC to announce outstanding alumni for 2017

The University of the Sunshine Coast will announce the winners of its Outstanding Alumni Awards for 2017 tomorrow evening (Thursday 21 September).

These annual awards were first presented in 2005 and have helped recognise and celebrate the significant achievements of USC graduates across a wide variety of fields, from community work to business and scientific research.

Media are welcome to attend the awards presentation from 6-7.30pm at USC’s Innovation Centre Auditorium on campus at Sippy Downs.

The award categories are: Outstanding Alumnus of the Year; Regional Achievement (graduates making an impact in the broader Sunshine Coast region); and Rising Star (graduates aged 35 years or younger, or who graduated in the past five years).

USC Alumni Relations Officer Anita Edmonds said all USC graduates, staff, benefactors and supporters of the University were welcome to attend this free, social and inspiring event.

She said refreshments would be served, and USC Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill would outline many of the University’s exciting recent developments. Those interested in attending can register online.

Last year’s award winners were Abu Dhabi-based property services facilities manager Ryan Darnell (Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Business 2003), 7 News Queensland presenter Katie Toney (Bachelor of Communication 2006) and Brisbane Broncos performance analyst Scott Barker (Sport and Exercise Science 2006).
