USC offers tips for parents about preparing for uni

Parents of school students in Years 10-12 have been invited to attend a special Meet USC event at the University of the Sunshine Coast at Sippy Downs on Wednesday 22 March.

This event will include information sessions designed to take the mystery out of preparing for university and give parents practical tips on how to support their children along the journey to tertiary study.

Half-hour sessions between 4-7pm will include guided tours of the University campus and presentations about career planning and making QTAC applications.

There will also be a one-hour presentation about USC’s Headstart program, which enables Year 11 and 12 students to study university subjects while still at high school.

USC staff will be on hand to answer parents’ questions and will introduce visitors to the Parent Lounge – an online space for parents to find everything they need to know about university.

USC Marketing and External Engagement Deputy Director Trisha Roe encouraged those interested in the Meet USC event to register at www.usc.edu.au/meet-usc.

“This is a great opportunity for parents and their children to come on to campus, understand the road to university and to get all your questions answered,” she said.
