USC Careers Fair attracts Coast’s top employers

A Careers Fair at the University of the Sunshine Coast tomorrow (Friday 24 March) looks set to provide USC students and graduates with a distinct edge in seeking employment.

The event from 10am-2pm at USC’s main campus at Sippy Downs will put students in touch with some of the region’s major employers, who will outline their graduate employment programs and other career paths.

Among the organisations attending are Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, Sunshine Coast Council, Queensland Department of Education and Training, Telstra, Youi Insurance, and Novotel Hotels and Resorts.

Media are welcome to attend the event, which will be held on the lawn outside Building E.

The Careers Fair will be the culmination of USC Careers Week, which has featured daily events including interview skill seminars, resume and cover letter checks, and sessions on the best use of social media.

USC Student Development Officer Anne Bowden said the Careers Fair would provide a fantastic opportunity for students and graduates to meet potential employers face to face.

“The event will allow students to find out what kind of career paths are offered by some top organisations on the Sunshine Coast,” she said. “It’s a chance for them to start networking and connecting with employers while they’re still at university.

“It’s also a good opportunity for students to explore options for practical industry experience.

“At USC, we’re not only focussed on the university experience but also on how we can help students reach their career goals once they finish their degrees.”
