A USC Senior Research Fellow working to prevent teenagers being killed in car crashes will share her professional and personal insights at an International Women’s Day Celebratory Breakfast on Saturday 4 March.
Dr Bridie Scott-Parker will discuss her experiences as leader of USC’s Adolescent Risk Research Unit, based at the Sunshine Coast Mind and Neuroscience – Thompson Institute at Birtinya, at the event celebrating the International Women’s Day theme ‘Be bold for change’.
The award-winning expert in young novice driver road safety also runs an international research collaboration, the Consortium of Adolescent Road Safety, while parenting two teenagers and managing her own serious health problems.
“I am looking forward to sharing some of ‘the good’, and some of the ways I have managed to get around ‘the less good’,” she said.
“Sometimes, as a woman, a mother, and a person with a disability, being bold is the only way you get through the day. This needs to be acknowledged and encouraged.”
The breakfast will be held by Graduate Women Qld Sunshine Coast branch at the Yacht Club at Mooloolaba from 7.45am on Saturday 4 March. For details contact President Bev Hinz on info@graduatewomen.org.au or call 0427 947 668 or 5453 4793. Bookings taken until Monday 27 February.
