Free USC course for adults of all ages

USC is offering a free course at its Gympie and Fraser Coast campuses for people thinking of taking their first step in returning to study at university or TAFE.

With no exams or assignments and free tuition and materials, the University Skills for Community (US4C) course is especially designed for adults of all ages who may not have studied formally for some years, or who did not finish high school.

Registration is open for the five-week course, which is facilitated by experienced USC advisers, including Careers and Graduate Employment Adviser Tracy-Madonna Wylie.

“It is an ideal course for those wanting to sample higher education and discover what opportunities are available to them,” Mrs Wylie said.

“It demystifies university and allows people to explore their potential study and career pathways.

“They will learn how to recognise and develop their skills gained from work and life experience and turn them into academic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.”

The Fraser Coast course will be delivered in five weekly sessions, starting Tuesday 9 May from 5-7.30pm at USC’s Fraser Coast campus in Old Maryborough Road, Hervey Bay.

The Gympie course will run over four consecutive weeks, starting Tuesday 2 May from 10am-12pm at USC’s Gympie campus in Cartwright Road, Gympie.

All materials are provided free of charge and there are no tuition costs. To register email pathways@usc.edu.au or phone (07)5430 2893.
