USC to hold Fraser Coast info nights

The University of the Sunshine Coast will hold two free public information nights next week to outline its plans to begin offering study opportunities at Hervey Bay from next year.

These events will be held from 5.45-7pm at USQ’s Fraser Coast campus, 161 Old Maryborough Road, Hervey Bay, on Tuesday 27 October, and at Maryborough’s Brolga Theatre and Convention Centre, 5 Walker Street, on Wednesday 28 October.

They will provide an overview of USC and why it is interested in the region, details of the study programs it plans to offer at Hervey Bay from Semester 1, 2016, and information about applications and enrolments.

There will be opportunities for people to chat with academics and administrative staff about specific programs in nursing, education, marketing, accounting, sport studies and human services as well as USC’s special bridging program called Tertiary Preparation Pathway.

USC’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill said once the transfer of the Fraser Coast campus from USQ had been approved and finalised, USC would concentrate on increasing higher education opportunities in the region.

“The future focus for the Fraser Coast campus will be about broadening enrolments, diversifying program choice and ensuring the range of programs available through the campus continues to meet the employability needs of local business and industry,” he said.

“USC is keen to work with future students and employers in the region to determine which courses are needed now, as well as looking ahead to the study programs the region will need for its future development.”

Light refreshments will be provided from 5.45pm ahead of a 6pm start at both information events. For more details, go to www.usc.edu.au/frasercoast.
