Sci-fi author to give tips to USC writers

Aspiring creative writers at the University of the Sunshine Coast will gain the latest industry information during a visit by renowned fantasy and science fiction author and publisher Paul Collins on Tuesday 20 October and Wednesday 21 October.

Melbourne-based Mr Collins, who has written more than 140 books for children, is best known for his series ‘The Jelindel Chronicles’ and ‘The Quentaris Chronicles’ and heads independent Australian imprint Ford Street Publishing.

His recent collaborative fantasy book series is ‘The Warlock’s Child’ and his latest anthology, ‘Rich and Rare’, includes bestselling authors such as USC’s own Associate Professor Gary Crew.

Dr Crew said the visit would be a wonderful opportunity for USC students and staff to ask questions of a leading Australian author and publisher.

“Paul’s work with our Creative Writing students and academics will include sessions on publishing in Australia and publishing Young Adult fiction in particular,” he said.

While the USC lectures by Paul Collins on 20-21 October are not public events, media are welcome to attend and/or interview him, Dr Crew, or attending students.
