This Service includes: Emergency medical assistance and advice, Evacuation or repatriation if necessary, Liaison and case management with your hospital or medical provider, Liaison and case management with Chubb insurance.

It also offers Pre-travel advice, Assistance in replacing a lost or stolen passport, Legal assistance, Assistance in tracing delayed or lost luggage, Verification of medical insurance to medical providers, Guaranteed payment of medical service providers, Emergency medical advice 24 hours per day, Assistance in arranging medical appointments and hospital admission, Advice and information on the location of physicians, hospitals, and dentists worldwide.

Chubb Travel Smart App

Chubb Assistance also have a Chubb Travel Smart App. We would strongly recommend installing this application on your phone prior to departure. The app provides lots of useful information about the destination you will be travelling to, including local emergency numbers, location specific alerts and risks specific to a location

FCM Travel

We recommend downloading the FCM App.

The app allows you to access your itinerary but also provides updates regarding travel alerts and information relevant to your travel. You can also add your important documents, so you might want to add a copy of the details page of your passport, your insurance information etc. here.

24/7 Emergency consulate assistance

If you’re in a life-threatening situation or need immediate assistance, contact the local emergency authorities. You can find local emergency numbers under ‘Local contacts’ in the travel advisory for your destination.

If you, or someone you know, needs urgent help, emergency consular assistance is available 24 hours a day. Call the Consular Emergency Centre (CEC) in Canberra on:

SafeZone

UniSC uses SafeZone to manage emergency response and communications during incidents on campus or internationally.

The app connects you with the SafeUSC team or emergency services.

You can use SafeZone to:

  • Call for help
  • Call for first aid
  • Call for emergency assistance
  • Check-in manually or automatically when working alone

SafeZone is a free to download application from CriticalArc which can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store or the Google Play Store. In the event of an emergency, the app allows you to quickly share your location and details with the local response team who will be able to get the right assistance to you.

Smartraveller

Smartraveller deliver a range of consular services for Australians travelling or living overseas. They deliver services through Australian embassies, high commissions and consulates overseas. In some situations, they initiate a crisis response. This is usually when a crisis affects many Australians in a destination.

Emergency services in most destinations have processes in place for crisis situations. See 'local contacts' in the travel advisory for your destination.

SafeUniSC

SafeUSC Officers (security) are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergency situations or if you require assistance.

The services SafeUSC provide include:

Understand that where you are not covered due to a pre-existing condition or an exclusion this may result in you incurring costs. Read through this information carefully and consider whether this coverage is going to meet your needs. Where it doesn’t you should purchase your own travel insurance that meets your requirements.
