Indonesia Study Tour 2023 for Postgraduate Business Students

Join us for this 1-week program visiting Indonesia, including Jakarta the capital city and Surabaya the second largest city in Indonesia. The entire program will involve:

  • A compulsory online pre-departure orientation session.
  • Students will study MBA730 Contemporary and Emerging Issues in Business and Management, which will include both guided and independent learning experiences online, and activities in international settings, held over eight days.
  • Approximately 20-30 hours will be dedicated to actively engaging in learning and assessment activities.
  • There will be in-tour and post-tour assessment tasks to be completed which relate to the international experience.
  • There will be approximately 30 hours of experiential learning where students undertake a combination of company site, presentations and business institution visits; and cultural experiences relevant to the destination.
  • The study tour is designed to be interactive, collaborative and reflective. The international experience will provide students with a greater understanding of how the business and cultural environment impacts on business and management decision making and how these insights can be transferred across international boundaries.

This program is open to:

  • Any student who is enrolled in a Postgraduate Coursework Program in Business# at the University of Sunshine Coast.
  • An alumni of the University of Sunshine Coast who has studied and graduated from a Postgraduate Coursework Program in Business# at the University of Sunshine Coast, but you still need to enrol in MBA730 course as a visiting student+.
  • Postgraduate Business students from other Australian Universities, but you still need to enrol in the MBA730 course as a cross-institutional student.

At many of these visits, students will have the opportunity to ask questions, to get a greater understanding of doing business in Indonesia and what local and international businesses face in this region.

^ Activities are subject to change, and this study tour will run subject to UniSC obtaining a minimum number of student registrations.

A$500 per student Program Fee

This program is subsided by the School of Business and Creative Industries at UniSC to support you in your international studies. What is included in the Program Fee?

  • Twin Shared Accommodation in 4* accommodation (single room available at additional cost, approximately $710AUD subject to change)

Financial Assistance

OS-Help loan

Overseas Student HELP loans (OS-HELP) are provided by the Commonwealth government to eligible HECS-HELP students undertaking various international experiences for credit. This loan is added to your HELP debt and can be up to $6,913. Please visit the OS-Help website to read the eligibility criteria and further information.

# Participating students will be required to book their return travel to Jakarta through UniSC's Corporate Travel provider. Further details will be provided to students regarding this process.

What next?

Register your interest and pay a $500 program fee

You will then be invited to complete forms in International SONIA to determine your eligibility to enrol in the associated course, and complete other checks.

Cancellation and refund policy

In relation to the $500 program fee, if you notify the Program Leaders of your withdrawal:

  • On or before 12 August 2023: Full refund
  • After 12 August 2023 and up until 12 October 2023: You will receive a full refund of the $500.00 subject to UniSC finding a person to replace your position on the study tour. Otherwise you will not receive any refund.
  • After 12 October 2023: No refund
  • If UniSC cancels the Study Tour, you will be refunded the full program fee.
