Orientation Day to welcome USC Gympie students

Students at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s Gympie campus will enjoy an upbeat start to the 2016 study year with Orientation Day on Thursday 18 February.

A range of fun activities, live music and information sessions will be held across the day to help new and continuing students prepare for Semester 1 and meet some of their fellow classmates at the campus on Cartwright Road.

The event will begin with a Welcome to Country and official opening at 10am, followed by a program of information sessions about practical study skills, University facilities and student support services.

Students will able to browse through a range of information stalls, receive a free lunch and enjoy a performance from The Short Note musical trio from 12.30pm.

The event will also include program-specific sessions for students enrolled in Nursing Science, Primary Education, Business and Accounting, Social Sciences, Engineering and the Tertiary Preparation Pathway.

USC Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill said Orientation Day was a great chance for Gympie students to gain an introduction to university life before Semester 1 begins on Monday 29 February.

“These orientation activities give students a chance to familiarise themselves with the campus, learn about their study programs, and meet their teaching staff and fellow students,” he said.
