Accounting adds up for Hervey Bay musician

After excelling at high school accounting last year, Paige Keys of Eli Waters believes studying a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) locally at the University of the Sunshine Coast simply adds up.

Paige, 17, received the highest possible grade of a VHA10 in Year 12 accounting at Urangan State High School, and is keen to take her study to a new level when she begins her degree at the USC Fraser Coast campus later this month.

“When I received my QTAC offer to study at USC, I was completely over the moon,” she said. “I can’t wait to get started on my studies. I think my first year of university will be a real adventure and hopefully a successful year of learning.”

Paige, who received an OP7, is well-known locally as a musician after having played guitar and singing with her band, The Red Keys, at school events and local venues.

She said the chance to study in her home town of Hervey Bay would make the transition to university life much easier, especially being able to continue her part-time job at a local law firm.

“It worked out perfectly that USC offered the exact course I wanted to study right here in Hervey Bay,” she said.

“The Fraser Coast campus provides a great opportunity for me to study close to home where I have the support of my family and friends.”

USC Fraser Coast will hold a special Welcome Day on Friday 19 February to provide orientation activities for its new students.
